BRIEF PROCESS IN METAL SHAPING

1:

MEASURING ALUMINIUM SHEET SIZE :

Because of the Dome shape are too CONCAVE
It is impossible for aluminium sheet to bend into the whole shape
Therefore I have decided to do HALF of the the model in order for aluminium to bend into the shape

MEASURING :

Measured with a STRING in two dimension
Which could then flatten out and measure the LENGTH of the string
Then you could estimate the WIDTH + LENGTH of the aluminium

2:

CUTTING SQUARE :

After MEASURING the length + width
Flatten out the MARK the estimate length on the aluminium sheet

Then CUT the Aluminium Sheet in the big cutting machine by measured mark
By PRESSING the foot step to cut

3:

DEFINING SQUARE :

After CUTTING the Square
Shape could be DEFINED by marking Approximate Shape of the model
And cut with this TOOL
As a Big square are very DIFFICULT to work with

4:

PUSH ALUMINIUM TO APPROXIMATE CURVE

WITH A MUSHROOM STEEL DOME

THEN WITH SMALLER MUSHROOM STEEL DOME TO DEFINE
MARK AND HIT WHERE ITS MARKED

SHARPER HAMMER WILL COMPRESS

5:

DEFINE TWIST WITH THIS PIECE OF WOOD

HAMMER TO HIT WITH THE SIMILAR SHAPE AS THE TWIST

HIT WHERE IT'S MARKED

6:

REACHING THE END

HIT AT THE END TO CURVE THE SKIRTING

MEASURE AND CURVE WITH HAMMER

FLATTEN WITH THE END SIDE OF THE WOOD

7:

DEFINE WITH THE ENGLISH WHEEL MACHINE

FLAT WHEEL TO FLATTEN THE FLAT SIDE
FLATTEN ANY LUMPS

LIFT TO KEEP THE CURVE THEN FLATTEN AGAIN

~

ROUND WHEEL COULD ROUND THE CURVE BUT FLATTEN OUT ANY LUMPS

~

8:

INTO FINALISING

~

HOWEVER FAILURE STILL HAPPEN
As hitting too much or stretching too much and end up ripped open

RELATIONSHIP TO PROJECT 2

AS WELL AS FOR MY PROJECT 2
THERE ARE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MY FIRST CHOSEN OBJECT

AS MODEL SHOWN THE EDGES FOR EACH SIDE ARE VERY CHALLENGING
AS POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE CURVES ARE SHOWN

THERE ARE MANY SIMILARITY TO MY LAST PROJECT

THEREFORE FROM MY LAST PROJECT I HAVE GAIN MUCH EXPERIENCE ON HOW TO MAKE CURVE EDGES AS WELL AS CONTROLLING THE EXPENDING AND SHRINKING OF EACH SURFACE

THE DIFFERENCE OF MAKING THIS PROJECT ARE MAKING IT INTO EVEN SMALLER SCALE
AS WELL AS GAINING MORE CONFIDENT SKILL ON MAKING DIFFICULT EDGES IN MORE PRECISE MANNER

For this Model it is working much smaller scale as the curves are smaller and brings in more
 in surfaces

So Smaller Tools should be used as well

SMALLER TOOL TAPERED STEEL T-DOLLY ANVIL NEED TO MAKE SMALLER ROUND EDGES

LEFT HAMMER - FITING IN THE EDGES AGAINST THE  MOLD TO CREATE NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE EDGES
RIGHT HAMMER - TO BRING IN THE ROUND EDGES

CREATE THE NEGATIVE EDGES
